Team Offsite Facilitation
An offsite can play a crucial role in getting your team engaged and aligned. It's a chance for your team to step away from their day-to-day work and invest in learning how to work together more effectively, form stronger bonds, and cast a collective vision for what they want to achieve together.
At Lineo, we help teams assess their current strengths and weaknesses and develop a clear action plan on how to improve. The team will build stronger relationships, embrace difficult conversations, align on their shared goal, and develop a plan to execute more effectively.
OFFSITE OBJECTIVES
While every team will have different needs, there are a few core principles that we touch on at every team offsite.
Build Trust and Establish Team Norms
No matter where you're at on your team's journey, we'll make sure we have a solid foundation for difficult conversations by investing in the team's relationships. We'll help team members connect with each other, develop empathy, and gain a better understanding of each other's working styles so that we're able to have open and productive conversations about the work.
Align on Shared Goals
A team isn't truly a team unless they are working together toward a collective goal. We'll make sure your team is intellectually aligned around their shared purpose, strategic direction, and top priorities.
Improve Meetings and Communication
An offsite is a great opportunity to assess how well your team is executing. The team will identify what is working well and what is not with their meetings, decision-making, and communication, and make adjustments to achieve their goals.
HOW WE PLAN YOUR OFFSITE
Introductory call
All of our engagements begin with an introductory call to gauge your team's needs, scope your session, and build your agenda. Most initial offsites are two days in person.
Prep Work
All team members will be asked to take an anonymous survey to help identify current areas of strength and opportunity. We may also ask team members to take an individual assessment of their working style.
Logistics Guidance
Our team provides guidance on room setup and materials needed. We encourage casual environments (i.e., soft seating as opposed to a boardroom table) and keep our sessions low-tech to promote more team interaction.
Pre-session Call
We'll review the assessment results with the team leader, coach the leader on opening remarks, and update the agenda based on our discoveries. This call typically takes place a few days before the offsite.
DELIVERABLES AND FOLLOW-UP
At Lineo, we believe the offsite isn't a standalone event; it's part of a journey. That's why we actively follow up with our clients to ensure they maintain momentum after the event.
Offsite Summary
We capture notes from the session and provide a digestible summary of discussions, decisions, and next steps.
Debrief Call
We debrief every offsite with the leader to ensure that the team has the support they need to be successful.
Meeting Audit
Regular team meetings are one of the primary places we want to see our work have an impact. For teams that adopt our recommended tactical meeting format, we'll attend one of your regular meetings virtually to observe and give feedback.
Check-In Calls
We'll reach out for monthly check-in calls to monitor and promote the team's progress.
Team Progress Report
We care about measuring impact. 3-6 months after our initial offsite, we offer a comparison assessment so we can track your progress and coach you on next steps.
